How to pause and resume the default instance of SQL Server (Windows)

To pause and resume the default instance of SQL Server

1. In Control Panel, double-click Services.
   
   
2. In the Services dialog box, click MSSQLSERVER.
   
   
3. Click Pause or Continue.
