How to derive a template from a running trace (SQL Profiler)

To derive a template from a running trace

On the File menu, point to New, and then click Trace.
In the Connect to SQL Server dialog box, select the server to be traced and connection method.
In the Trace Properties dialog box, do the following:
- In the Trace name box, type the name of the new trace.
- In the Template name list, select a template.
Modify the template by adding or deleting events, columns, or filters, and then start the trace by clicking Run.
On the File menu, point to Save As, and then click Trace Template.
Type a name and save the template file.
